MATCH REPORT: Bridon Ropes FC 7–1 Tooting & Mitcham United XI
Pre-season Friendly – Saturday 19th July 2025, Meridian Sports Club, Charlton | KO: 1pm
Bridon Ropes FC laid down an emphatic marker for the season ahead with a commanding 7–1 victory over a youthful Tooting & Mitcham United XI in a sun-soaked pre-season friendly at the Meridian Sports Club.
From the opening whistle, the hosts looked sharp and assertive, quickly settling into a rhythm of confident, possession-based football. The early dominance was rewarded within minutes, as a flowing passing move straight from kick-off forced the Tooting keeper into a fine save—an early signal of Bridon’s intent.
Central midfield duo Jo Quinnear and Eman Bestman controlled the tempo brilliantly, dictating play with composure and vision. Bestman, in particular, grew into the game as a box-to-box presence, later adding his name to the scoresheet with a crisp finish.
Out wide, Shegs and Patrick Da Lomba tormented the visiting defence with direct running and creativity. Da Lomba’s electric pace and close control proved a constant menace, and he was duly rewarded with a well-taken goal midway through the first half.
However, the star of the show was undoubtedly Ian Kemp. Normally a defensive rock, the centre-back turned goal-scorer with a towering header from a corner and a poacher’s finish after a scramble in the box. His dominance at both ends of the pitch set the tone for Bridon’s physical and tactical superiority.
Tyler Sanchez opened the scoring and led the line with confidence, while Jo Jamal added further gloss to the scoreline with a composed strike. Sam Sarpong rounded things off with a late goal to cap a flowing team move, as the Bridon frontline proved relentless in their attacking waves.
Tooting & Mitcham XI did manage a consolation goal early in the second half, but it was merely a footnote in a match controlled from start to finish by the home side.
A final score of 7–1 reflected Bridon’s dominance across the pitch, with standout performances in every area. With the new season fast approaching, this was a performance full of promise—and goals.
