Pre-Season Friendly
Lingfield FC 2 – 3 Bridon Ropes FC
Tuesday 8th July 2025 | KO 7:30pm
Venue: Nomads FC, Edenbridge

Bridon Ropes kicked off their first away pre-season friendly of the 2025/26 campaign with an impressive 3-2 victory over Step 5 side Lingfield FC at Nomads FC in Edenbridge.

Despite Lingfield enjoying home advantage and playing a level above, Bridon looked composed and confident in possession throughout. Early signs of strong patterns of play were evident, with the visitors creating several clear-cut chances in the opening half. While some big opportunities went begging, Bridon’s persistence eventually paid off just before the break when Manny Oshinwino found space in the box and calmly slotted home to give Ropes a deserved 1-0 lead at half-time.

Lingfield came out with intensity in the second half and quickly equalised from a well-delivered set-piece cross that was converted inside the area.

Bridon responded with attacking intent and regained the lead when a precise through ball split the defence and sent Eman Bestman through on goal. As he approached the keeper, a desperate lunge brought him down in the box. Bestman dusted himself off and coolly sent the resulting penalty to the goalkeeper’s right to make it 2-1.

Lingfield, to their credit, continued to threaten from set plays and once again drew level, heading home from another well-worked cross with about 15 minutes remaining.

But Bridon weren’t done. After a spell of excellent possession and fluid passing through the thirds, the ball again found its way to the lively Manny Oshinwino, who showed great composure to shake off his marker and fire home the match-winner, sealing a 3-2 win for Bridon Ropes.

A strong, encouraging performance in what proved to be a very competitive and valuable early pre-season test.
