Kossi’s first hat-trick seals important win for Ropes
Bridon Ropes 3–1 Banstead Athletic
SCEFL First Division | Saturday 17 October 2026
Meridian Sports & Social Club | Kick-off: 3pm
Half-time: 2–1 | Attendance: 64
Yedidja Kossi scored his first hat-trick in non-league football as Bridon Ropes secured an important victory over Banstead Athletic at Charlton Park Lane.
The Ropes made a bright start and took the lead in the 20th minute, with Abdulai Turay providing the assist for Kossi’s opener. Just three minutes later, the advantage was doubled. This time Theo Hayford supplied Kossi, who claimed his second of the afternoon to put Bridon firmly in control.
Banstead were handed a route back into the contest five minutes before the interval when they were awarded a debatable penalty. Frankie Harris converted to reduce the deficit, leaving the Ropes with a 2–1 lead at the break.
The visitors enjoyed good spells of possession in the second half, but Bridon remained organised and limited their attacking threat. With the advantage still slender, the Ropes needed composure and took their opportunity to settle the contest in the 79th minute.
A smart counterattack saw substitute Shadrac Kouassi deliver a low cross which Kossi met with a clinical strike, restoring the two-goal cushion and completing a memorable personal milestone.
His first non-league treble took his tally to eight league goals for the season, moving him joint top of the division’s scoring charts.
Kossi deservedly takes the headlines, but the victory also owed much to a disciplined team performance and the contributions of all three providers. Bridon’s bright opening, organisation after the interval and decisive counterattack secured three valuable points.
The result moves the Ropes up to 14th on eight points and extends their unbeaten run to three matches in all competitions, providing encouragement ahead of another home fixture next weekend.
