Ropes Beaten as Hythe Continue Winning Start
SCEFL First Division
Saturday 22 August 2026
Bridon Ropes 1–4 Hythe Town
Venue: Meridian Sports & Social Club
Kick-off: 3:00pm
Bridon Ropes suffered a 4–1 home defeat against Hythe Town on Saturday afternoon as the visitors maintained their strong start to the SCEFL First Division season.
Following the previous weekend’s point on the road, Ropes returned to Meridian looking to build some early-season momentum, but came up against a Hythe side who proved clinical when their opportunities arrived.
The visitors’ goals came through Jake Embery, who struck twice, alongside efforts from Josh Byford and Harry Maher as Hythe established a commanding advantage.
Bridon continued to work for a response and were rewarded late in the game when substitute Tadi Nago found the net. It provided some consolation for the Ropes, but was not enough to alter the outcome as Hythe left Charlton with all three points.
For Bridon, attention now turns to a busy Bank Holiday weekend with two league fixtures in three days, beginning away at Lordswood on Saturday before a quick turnaround for Monday’s home game against Tooting Bec.
