Ropes rally to earn a point at Elmstead

FC Elmstead 3–3 Bridon Ropes
SCEFL First Division | Saturday 10 October 2026
Longmead Stadium | Half-time: 2–1

Bridon Ropes recovered from 3–1 down to secure a point at FC Elmstead, before coming agonisingly close to taking all three during a strong finish. Goals from Jonathon Boateng, Abdulai Turay and Yedidja Kossi ensured the Ropes came away with something from a six-goal encounter.

The hosts went ahead in the 23rd minute through Jamie Fearn. Bridon drew level on the stroke of half-time when Boateng scored, but parity was short-lived. Fearn struck again three minutes into added time, sending Elmstead into the interval with a 2–1 advantage.

The task became more difficult six minutes after the restart when Luke Alliband extended Elmstead’s lead. At 3–1 down, the Ropes needed a response, and two goals in eight minutes would eventually turn the contest around.

Abdulai Turay reduced the deficit in the 75th minute, giving Bridon renewed hope heading into the closing stages. Yedidja Kossi then struck in the 83rd minute to bring the scores level and complete the comeback.

The Ropes pressed hard during the final ten minutes and could have completed a remarkable turnaround through Theo Hayford. His long-range effort beat the goalkeeper but flashed just wide of the far post, leaving Bridon inches away from a late winner.

There was encouragement in the determination shown to recover from a two-goal deficit and continue pushing for victory. Conceding three will remain a frustration, but the response and ambition shown in the closing stages provide something to build on.

Bridon Ropes starting XI: Olisanedum Ogosi, James McMillan (c), Jonathon Boateng, Simon Bye, Theo Hayford, Nathaniel Campbell, Schadrac Kouassi, Yedidja Kossi, Abdulai Turay, Robinhood Mensah Sowah, Mo Adisa.

Substitutes: Salim Alleyne, Emmanuel Oshinowo, Ryan Crowder, David Makisi, Sam Huckle.
