Match Report: Bridon Ropes FC 3–2 Sporting Club Thamesmead
Monday 6 April 2026 | Meridian Sports and Social Club, Charlton Park Lane | 3:00pm KO

Bridon Ropes produced a vital and spirited performance on home soil to secure a 3–2 victory over Sporting Club Thamesmead, lifting themselves out of the bottom three and firmly back in control of their own destiny.

The Ropes started brightly and made their intent clear from the outset. Their positive approach was rewarded early on when Yedidja Kossi opened the scoring, finishing confidently to give Bridon a deserved lead. Momentum continued to build, and just minutes later the advantage was doubled in style. Jordan Samuel spotted the goalkeeper off his line and executed a delicate lob from outside the box, capping an excellent opening spell for the hosts.

Sporting Club Thamesmead responded before the break, pulling a goal back from a corner to make it 2–1 heading into half time, setting up a tense second period.

The visitors’ task became more difficult early in the second half when their number 17 was shown a second yellow card for clumsily pulling back Theo Hayford as he broke clear from the halfway line, reducing Thamesmead to ten men.

However, the game turned again on 68 minutes in unfortunate circumstances for Bridon. A defensive slip allowed a long throw into the box to bounce awkwardly, catching out the Ropes defence. A trailing leg resulted in a penalty, which Thamesmead’s number 10 converted to bring the sides level at 2–2.

To their credit, Bridon responded strongly and began to make the extra man count. Sustained pressure followed, with several good chances created as the Ropes pushed for a winner.

That moment arrived from a set piece. A free kick from the right wing was delivered deep to the back post, where Anselme Daho rose highest to power home a header and register his first goal for the club, restoring Bridon’s lead at 3–2.

There were further opportunities to seal the game, with debutant Esrom McKonnen impressing on the right flank. He came close to putting the result beyond doubt, but his well struck effort drifted just over the bar.

The final whistle confirmed a crucial three points for the Ropes in an entertaining contest. The victory lifts Bridon out of the relegation places and, with games in hand over the sides around them, their fate remains firmly in their own hands.
