Meridian Sports & Social Club, Charlton Park Lane
Attendance: 67

Bridon Ropes produced one of their most spirited performances of the season, overturning Welling Town three times in a thrilling 4–3 victory at Charlton Park Lane. The afternoon was lit up by a superb debut hat-trick from Jack Church, who delivered a complete, match-winning display full of energy, quality and composure.

Bright start from the visitors

Welling Town opened strongly and took the lead inside four minutes, with Harry Beech finishing confidently after sustained early pressure. Despite conceding, Bridon settled quickly, with captain Taylor Fisher dictating the tempo, Chandler Kasai driving play forward, and goalkeeper Albert Penney providing a calm presence at the back.

Bridon’s response came on 22 minutes. Intelligent build-up involving England Kurti and Stanley Mills created an opening for debutant Jack Church, who took his chance with composure to level the scoring.

Welling regained the lead almost immediately on 24 minutes, but from that point onward Bridon began to grow in control. The defensive line of Adrian Brown, Jason Bye operating reliably at centre-back, and Oscar Walton tightened up well, ensuring the visitors could not extend their advantage before half-time.

A second half full of character – and a dream debut

The match exploded into life after the interval.

On 53 minutes, Church struck again, carrying the ball forward with purpose before drilling home a low finish to bring the match to 2–2. Welling responded instantly, restoring their lead on 57 minutes, but this time the home side’s reply was emphatic.

On 62 minutes, Church completed a memorable debut hat-trick, guiding in a precise finish after another flowing move. The lift this provided around Charlton Park Lane was palpable, with Bridon now firmly in command.

Full of confidence, Ropes struck again just two minutes later. After winning possession and driving the team forward, Church helped launch the attack that ended with Taylor Fisher firing home what proved to be the winning goal. The captain’s strike capped a superb turnaround and ignited celebrations around the ground.

A welcome return and a composed finish

The closing stages saw a significant boost with the return of Chris Dunphy from long-term injury. His introduction brought valuable experience, calmness and communication at a crucial point in the game. Alongside the fresh legs of Samuel Sarpong and Olusegun Akinwunmi, Bridon managed the final phase with maturity.

Penney remained solid in goal, while Brown, Bye and Walton maintained a disciplined defensive shape to shut down Welling’s late attempts.

By full-time, the sense of satisfaction was unmistakable: a comeback victory built on belief, resilience and excellent attacking play.
